Final Fantasy has grown to mean a lot to me over the past few years, especially since my injury. During that time, turn-based games have become some of my favourites, and I’ve found myself wanting to experience more of what the series has to offer.
My first encounter with Final Fantasy came when I was a kid, through Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. At the time, I found the game confusing and decided to refund it. It wasn’t quite the introduction I expected, but it wouldn’t be the last time I picked up a Final Fantasy game.
Later, I tried Final Fantasy XIV. Its trailers, including the original A Realm Reborn trailer, had caught my interest. Through the MMO, I encountered the Warriors of Light, music and other ideas that made me curious about the wider series. It became an important part of how I came to know Final Fantasy.
The first game in the series that I really put my all into and felt excited about, though, was Final Fantasy XV. To this day, it remains one of my favourite games. My experience with it helped strengthen my interest in Final Fantasy and made me want to see more of the worlds and stories the series has created.
As my appreciation grew, I became interested in going back to the beginning. I wanted to see how the series started, discover the ideas that later games built upon, and experience the games for myself rather than only knowing them through references in newer entries.
That led me to the Pixel Remasters. Starting with the original Final Fantasy, I began working my way through the earlier games and seeing how the series developed. I’ve enjoyed exploring their worlds, listening to their music and discovering the foundations of a series that has become so important to me.
My goal is to continue playing through the Final Fantasy games and sharing my experiences along the way. Each game offers a different adventure, and I’m looking forward to seeing what stands out to me as I continue the journey.
In my next post, I’ll talk about my experience with Final Fantasy I Pixel Remaster and what it was like returning to the series’ original beginning.
